I love plates.

I love plates of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. I love plates holding sweet vintage items, like antique keys or old postcards. And I love plates displayed on the wall like art.

I really love these bright pink, yellow, and green plates against the baby blue wall. It really makes the colors pop.

I normally do not like such brightly colored walls, but this sun yellow room is simply breathtaking when adorned with vintage blue, red, and white plates.

Cottage Living

The neutral wall goes from ‘eh’ to ‘wow!’ when used as a canvas for these lovely blue-and-whites paired with the crisp white platters.

Country Living

This photo makes me want to hop on a plane, fly to California, and visit the Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica just to sit in one of those chairs. Can you even get over the combo of this slate colored wall with the white plates and black transferware? Wow. Just wow. And SQUEAL!

Viceroy Hotel – Santa Monica, CA

I absolutely love this mix of antique transferware in different sizes and shapes with simple white plates. The color combo of the white, navy, red, and teal is just fantastic!

Oh, wait! I’ve seen this display before…in my bedroom! I hung this up this weekend, and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve mixed my collection of vintage plates with super cheap plates purchased on clearance at Ross or Marshall’s. LOVE!

My husband is a little less enamored with my new display. He thinks there is too much white (I think I need the white to break up the heavily patterned transferware.), that it’s not symmetric (I like that it’s not symmetric, but it’s funny that he thinks this display is now ‘complete’…it’s eventually going to fill the entire wall), and that it’s going to fall on his head in the middle of the night (Well, that’s what he gets for allowing me to hang them by myself.).

Plus, he supported the habit by giving me my favorite piece for Valentine’s Day – the red and white Watteau platter from Woods Burslem. Love, love, love! I saw it in my favorite antique shop and pointed it out to him – and he secretly bought it for me! That’s love right there.

Photobucket

I really think you should love plates, too. Do you want to begin a plate collection or need to add to the one you already have? Well, here’s your chance!

Photobucket

I am giving away this set from my personal collection for my very first blog giveaway. These plates were going to hang in my sewing room, but I’ve decided I’d rather you have them (Let’s face it – I’m sure I’ll be buying more in the near future and this gives me a great excuse).

Want this blue and white collection to come live with you? There are several ways to enter this giveaway, and you can (and should!) enter in each category:

  • Leave a comment on this post;

Love the plates! I have been collecting plates for 10 years and they are ceiling to floor in my little yellow powder bath, looks precious. And then I have groupings throughout the house.

Your bedroom looks great. Love the colors!

I will start following you now!

Oh! And all my 50 plates were hanging above our master bed as well, for the past 5 years. I just recently hung them in the powder bath. Needed a change. But can you say, nail holes? Uh-oh.

That is gorgeous, my Grandma collected plates & I still have some of them. My Papa used to laugh and say the walls were going to "cave in" because she had so many~everywhere they vacationed she'd bring home a new plate. Before she passed, she wrote people's names on the back for whom she intended to give them to after her death. I have several cherished memories in the plates I received. That was sooo sweet of dh to secretly go back & buy that plate for you, how heartwarming! :)

Well, Lindsay, I finally figured out how to post here. Thanks for the instructions! I can’t believe I didn’t see that friend thing before. I only noticed the email button, and that wasn’t working. So, as you know, your plate photos were just the inspiration I needed to get mine off the table and on the wall–that and finding enough plate hangers. Hopefully, I’ll be able to post my finished wall in just a day or so. Love your blog and will be back!

I just followed…love the plates. I have a couple in my daughter’s room…there were 3 but Someone was jumping on the bed and managed to knock one off and break it, so I have to glue it back together and apparently get better hangers. I’m starting to collect some to put over our sorry excuse for a bed…my dearest hubby is a custom cabinet and furniture maker…and I have no headboard….;/ go figure. But I do have quite a few blue and white pieces and I’m adding more…….
