Welcome to Teach Me Tuesday! I spend a lot of time each week reading all of the great DIY tips out there in Blogland. Because there are so many fabulous projects that I can’t wait to try, I figured that it would be fun to feature some of my very favorites here each Tuesday.

If you would like to be featured in an upcoming edition of Teach Me Tuesday, please email me at LivingWithLindsay@gmail.com and we’ll chat!

Today’s edition of Teach Me Tuesday comes from the lovely and talented Jenny at JennyGarland.com. I absolutely love Jenny’s website (if you sew, she has some cute patterns you can download from her site) and she has tons of great ideas. How she finds time to do it all with two adorable little ones I have no idea. She must be Super Woman!

When she mentioned on her blog a few weeks ago that she’d be happy to create a video tutorial on refinishing furniture, I emailed her and said, “Um, yes, please!” I know that lots of you are a little scared to just grab the can of spray paint and started transforming your ugly ducklings into beauties, so I am so glad Jenny put together this video tutorial so you can see exactly how to do it (and how easy it is!).

Jenny says:

Hi there! Due to an astronomically high volume of requests for a video tutorial (under 5), I present to you … my simple, no fuss, no muss way to refinish furniture. This is likely not the “professional” way to do things, but it’s cheap, it works, and it looks great!

This is my first attempt at a video tutorial. Um, I completely forgot to do an intro. Sorry about that.

Below the video, you will find a summary in case you need to refer to it or find my voice severely annoying :)

What a great video, Jenny! You make it look so easy. I some how manage to spray paint the lawn, even with a drop cloth down. You are very smart to flip the furniture over and only work on the top portion. I’m going to try that next time.

See? A video really DOES help. Don’t be scared…grab that can of spray paint and get to spraying! Thanks so much for sharing, Jenny!

P.S. Don’t forget to visit the Five Dollar Challenge post to see all of the fantastic entries that have been posted. There are oodles of great ideas here! You have until 10 PM on Tuesday to create a project and link your post, so get working if you have time. Perhaps you could even spray paint something. Hmmm?

I actually saw this when she posted it. She inspired me to redo my counter chairs, but I’m still a little chicken. Watching the video really helps!

When are we going to see a LwL video tutorial???

Oh, that’s so great! I just bought a chest of drawers to refinish at a garage sale and I’m clueless as to how I should do it. This helped a lot. Thanks!

Great video; I have always been nervous about spray painting furniture. Love the outtakes, too – nice touch :)
