I could spend countless hours searching the pages of Etsy for unique artwork for my home. There’s nothing quite like adding to a room the perfect piece of work by an independent artist to make that room feel complete and, well, grown-up.
When I came across the work of two extremely talented sisters – Laura of Greengirl Designs and Jill of Paper Prayers – I was immediately hooked on their funky and whimsical style. They approach their work with a variety of materials, such as vintage paper, found objects (you know I love that!), and acrylics. The sisters often showcase their pieces in old recycled frames, which can be as much as part of the art as what’s inside them.
Some of their pieces make me want to sing from the trees:
Other pieces fill my heart with hope and joy:
Some would make perfect Mother’s Day gifts:
While still others remind me that I have everything I could ever want within the four walls of my home:
Each piece is hand-crafted and sure to lift your spirits. I love that even though each piece is one-of-a-kind, it is important to them to keep their prices affordable so that everyone can add a little beauty to their homes.
The sisters have generously offered one of my favorite pieces to a lucky reader. How great would this piece of artwork look in your home?

This “Normal Day” design by Paper Prayers is comprised of vintage and new papers, acrylics, a recycled frame, and text that spells out the most wonderful message. As Jill says,
Any day that is “normal” in our house is a good day: when no one gets hurt, no one’s sick, no one’s come up with some hair-brained idea, no one’s made a big mess, no one’s fighting. Nothing exciting has happened, nothing out of the ordinary has taken me by complete surprise.
I think we all long for a “normal” day, don’t we?

greengirl designs–”welcome to our crazy, happy, loud home” fits us perfectly. 900 square feet, two parents, one 7 y.o. boy, one 4.5 y.o. girl, a dog, and a cat…see, it describes us to a “T”!!
paperprayers–”be still and know”–the perfect reminder and lovely to gaze upon when having quiet time in the a.m. i esp. love the 4 arrow, pulling in different directions. sigh.
bradymichaelmonkey@yahoo.com
Lovin’ this artwork! Hard to choose favorites, but I really like Happy Memories Are Made Here and Be Still and Know.
They are both very creative!
My favorite from GreenGirlDesign’s shop is the Change is Good piece. The tree is beautiful.
From PaperPrayers’s shop I absolutely LOVE the Bird in the Cloud piece! One of my little sisters has always been mocked for seemingly having her head in the clouds and for being different from others. To me this is what makes her so much more special. I have always tried to remind her that she has to find her own way to spread her wings. I think a piece like this would be one of the greatest reminders I could give her to encourage her to keep being the amazing young lady she is becoming as she grows in the grace of her Father in Heaven.
I just mentioned the giveaway in my facebook status and posted a note about the giveaway for all my friends to check out.
OMGOSH, how cute is their work? I have to add them to my list of “when I have some extra cash” wants. LOL Thanks for sharing them.

This is my first time to your blog (I think) but I’m glad I found it. I like Etsy but sometimes get overwhelmed trying to sort though all the stores. Thank you for the links in your post.
My favourite at GreenGirlDesigns is the “Change is Good” piece as it’s pretty relevant to my life right now. And it’s a beautiful piece.
At paperprayers’ shop, I’m really drawn to the Song Bird piece. It’s a very good truth to remember.
And now I’ll be spending some time browsing Etsy. Saturdays are for pajamas, right? I hope so because I’ll be in mine a little bit longer…
