Welcome to Teach Me Tuesday! I spend a lot of time each week reading all of the great DIY tips out there in Blogland. Because there are so many fabulous projects that I can’t wait to try, I figured that it would be fun to feature some of my very favorites here each Tuesday.

If you would like to be featured in an upcoming edition of Teach Me Tuesday, please email me at LivingWithLindsay@gmail.com and we’ll chat!

Today’s edition of Teach Me Tuesday comes from Tiffany at Songbirdtiff. Tiffany strives to live life as frugually as she can, and she shares many of her great ideas with us along the way. She also titles each of her posts after the title of a song, and I’m amazed at how perfectly she can match each title to the theme of her post. She is a little song bird, after all!

One of the cutest tutorials that Tiffany has put together recently repurposes ordinary jars into sweet dog and cat treat cookie jars. What a fantastic use of items that would have otherwise been thrown in the recycling bin!

Tiff shows us how:

Our animals are deprived. I always have treats in the house, but often forget to give them to the dogs because they are always in the pantry (the treats, not the dogs) Out of sight, out of mind. I was inspired by this post by Kimm at Reinvented to use some glass containers I had sitting around for treats. (aren’t her labels adorable?!)

I used an old honey jar, Alfredo sauce jar, and jelly jar.

I cut some circles out of felt using spray adhesive to glue them to the lids. I topped that off with thin ribbon tied in a bow.

For labels I printed my design on card stock and cut. I just spread a little modge podge on the back of each label, and attached the label to the jar.

I’m thinking this is a wonderful way to repurpose the multitude of jars we acquire from cooking at home. Just think of the possibilities! Thanks for the idea, Kimm!

I just think those treat jars are so adorable. I love the fact that you could do this at home. Tonight. After you make dinner for your family. Who doesn’t love a craft project that comes straight off the dinner table? Apartment Therapy Re-Nest has even put together a list of other simple uses for spaghetti jars, so there are many projects out there just waiting for the right jar.

Thank you, Tiff, for sharing your idea with us! Head on over to Songbirdtiff to see all of the other delightful projects, recipes, and tips she has to share.

I have always used old jars to re-package pastas that I have bought at our local health food store or after I open a box from the grocery, but love the idea of dressing of the jar by decorating lid and making up a fancy label.

Thanks for sharing this idea with us.
