Looking for a little simple elegance? Look no further than your kitchen sink.
Recently, I decided to finally take the liquid hand soap and dish soap out of their plastic bottles and put them in glass bottles – olive oil bottles, to be exact. The plastic had been cluttering my the counters around my kitchen sink, and I wanted something more.
Combined with a classic white dish and a bud vase of fresh roses, my kitchen necessities have become less about function and more about fun.
You can easily bring this look to your kitchen, too.
- Find two empty olive oil bottles at a home discount store, a thrift store, or maybe even your local grocery store.
- Add liquid hand soap to the first bottle. You will likely need to dilute it with water so that it’s thin enough to be poured from the dispenser.
- Add dish soap to the second bottle. It should be regular strength dish soap, not concentrated (unless, you choose to dilute it as well, because the concentrated variations have a thicker consistency).
- Add fresh flowers to a petite bud vase. I cut my fresh blooms from the plentiful rose bushes in the common areas around my neighborhood (Hey, I pay HOA dues, so I “own” them, right?), but you are a probably a much better gardener than myself and have some in your very own yard.
- Set all three on a plain white dish, and you will have a delightful way to display your kitchen necessities.
Take the time to add some simple elegance to your home. Why not find an easy way to enjoy the little things in life?

So pretty! I've been planning to do that with my dish soap for a while. We use dish soap as hand soap too…{hanging head in shame}.

I have bought empty decorative bottles from Big Lots and used them for my dishsoap before. My mom uses empty wine bottles that are pretty colors. I like the olive oil bottle idea.

Anyway, totally cute. I would have to find a different kind of bottle though. We use these types of bottles for olive oil and vegetable oil and knowing my husband the dish soap would end up in the pasta salad!
I bought one of those jars at the dollar store and just finished filled it with soap. Love the idea of putting it on a plate with a fresh flower. Beautiful!
Love it. My bottles sit on a little tray that came with some fall candles. Another great source for bottles is your pantry. Soda bottles work great.
I never thought of adding the flowers. That really makes me smile. Guess I will have to look for a little bottle to put them in.

I recently did the same thing with my dish soap. Got a oil/vinegar container at Dollar Tree (it looks just like yours) and put my dishwashing liquid in it. Hubby asked if there was soap in it but he won't use it yet! I think he's afraid he'll break my $1.00 dispenser.

I've been thinking of trying this in the bathroom to put my shampoo/conditioner in by our garden tub(seperate from the shower.) I wonder if I could find pretty plastic ones though to be safe from the kitties knocking them over.
Love it! I do the same with my dish soap, but I love my foaming hand wash from Bath and Body so I have to deal with that.
