Sharing Your Goodwill

by Lindsay on August 20, 2009

One of the things I enjoy most about decorating my home on a glue gun budget is finding diamonds in the rough at my local Goodwill stores. Pretty much any time I set foot into one of them, I find something scary that I know I can transform into something splendid.

In fact, I transformed a little Goodwill project just today. You’ll have to wait to see it, though. ;)

I know you love shopping at Goodwill and giving items a new life, too. I’ve seen what you can do, and you gals are amazing. That’s why I’m so excited for the new project that Goodwill International is launching!

I spent some time over the last few weeks chatting with the folks at Goodwill via Twitter, throwing around an idea about them doing an official Goodwill blog with DIY tricks with their items from their stores. Wouldn’t that be fun?

I was very excited when I heard from them this week saying that their blog was a ‘go.’ Of course, I was overjoyed, as I fully support the mission of Goodwill and would love to encourage more people to shop at their stores.

To that end, Goodwill is looking for more bloggers to share their projects on the new blog. I knew that my readers would be *just* the people they are looking for, so I told them I’d share the new endeavor with you. I’m giving a few of you that I KNOW are huge Goodwill fans the “mom eye” right now (Ahem, Monica and Sarah). You know that look, don’t you?

If you are interested in sharing your projects on the Goodwill blog, please email them at cody.switzer[at]goodwill[dot]org. You can also send Cody a message via Twitter (@goodwillintl) or post on their Facebook page. I encourage you all to get involved in this fun project!

Have a great weekend!

P.S. I’m totally hooked on Goodwill! I’m adding this to Julia’s Hooked on carnival at Hooked on Houses!

Also, I got two pie tins at the Goodwill outlet store for $1. The embossed letters on them is what caught my eye. "New England Flaky Crust Pie Table Talk 10 cents Deposit" I googled the name and found one for sale on ebay for $20! Have you ever heard of these?

Are the "Monica" & "Sarah" links supposed to be the same?

Can't wait to see what your latest Good Will project is!

No, they aren't supposed to be the same. I fixed it. Thanks for catching that!

Tricia- I've never heard of those before, but it looks like you need to be doing some Ebaying!

ZOMG! I just had this same idea last week! There is a DC area Goodwill fashion blog that I love. I thought of doing the same for home stuff, although I shop at one of their *coughcough* competitors *coughcough* because I don't live near a Goodwill.

Will people be able to submit posts as guest posters, or are they selecting a group of bloggers to be involved. There sure are some great Goodwill decor divas on the internets!!

Lindsay, this is so cool. I'd missed a few posts as I've been busy getting my son off to college, so I'm just now reading this. I think it's wonderful of you not only to show us your wonderful, inspiring ideas, but also to work toward building GoodWill's reputation and business! Talk about a win-win–this is great. As always, thank you for sharing so freely with us. You are wonderful!
