Teach Me Tuesday: Easy Ruffle Shoes Tutorial

December 15, 2009

Posted in: Straight Line Sewing

Welcome to Teach Me Tuesday! I spend a lot of time each week reading all of the great DIY tips out there in Blogland. Because there are so many fabulous projects that I can’t wait to try, I figured that it would be fun to feature some of my very favorites here each Tuesday.

If you would like to be featured in an upcoming edition of Teach Me Tuesday, please email me at LivingWithLindsay@gmail.com and we’ll chat!

For the last Teach Me Tuesday of the year, I’m excited to feature a fun Ruffle Shoe Tutorial from Reyna at Out of the Notebook and Into the Blog. This is a great and easy way to update a plain pair of shoes to go with that outfit you were stressing about wearing to that holiday party this weekend.

Reyna explains:

Ruffle Shoe Tutorial
I’ve been seeing these adorable ruffle shoes all over, Delias, Jcrew, and other stores. They are so cute! However, at Delias they are priced at around $44, kind of pricey for my budget. So, I decided to make my own! I used plain black shoes that had a hint of sparkle to them from Target and black with white polka dot material for the ruffle. They turned out even better than I had expected and I LOVE them! So, I will share a tutorial on how to make them for you! If you make a pair, please email me so I can see how they turned out!

Oh, and I’m sure you wouldn’t do this, but please do not resell the tutorial or the shoes that you created! Thanks!

I forgot to take pictures for the tutorial after number 16, I guess I was too excited to get it done! All you do after you complete the steps below is hot glue the ruffle to the shoe, let dry, and repeat the process on the other shoe, oh, and enjoy wearing them!

Thank you so much for sharing this tutorial, Reyna! Your shoes are just adorable!

Great idea! She did a wonderful job with the tutorial. Looks like even a sewing challenged gal like myself can give this one a try.

Oh Lindsay those are so cute! I am hoping to find some time one day to Mod Podge a pair of shoes like that and now I am going to add a ruffle! Of course, using my new ruffler attachment!

Those are cute! I don't agree with her telling people not to resell the shoes they make. She gave the tutorial, but whoever actually takes the time to make them has every right to profit from their work :)

Not sure if this would work properly but, it is an idea. You could attache it with strong velcro and then change out the ruffles for different outfits. :)
