No apologies

I am over winter. I am finished. Done. No more. Of course, it helps that it’s already in the 60s and 70s here in beautiful Austin, Texas. Regardless, I declare it Spring in my home, and I am making no apologies for it.

Yep, those are birds’ nests, starfish, and seashells in January. I love them, so I decided it was time for them to make an appearance in the refreshed vignette on my antique English sideboard. Shouldn’t we always display the things that we love?

(Psst! Did you notice that my Pottery Barn knock-off mirror has finally found a home? Hooray!
)

My Springtime-in-January vignette is made from pieces that I disassembled from past projects. I added a starfish to my large apothecary jar filled with family photos from my husband’s grandmother’s estate and faux antique photos printed from the Internet.

In a few glasses, I added some more seashells from this project and a vintage monogrammed dishtowel my Mother-in-law gave me for my birthday last year – it actually came from her Mother-in-law. I leaned a few starfish against the mirrored topper of the sideboard.

A tarnished silver bucket I picked up a while back from my favorite local antique store is filled with some Dollar Tree Spanish moss, a bird’s nest, my son’s silver baby cup, and my husband’s silver baby spoon. Random? Absolutely. Lovely? Yes!

The large ‘B’ was taken from my fall wreath that I disassembled when the Christmas wreath moved to the front door back in December.

I added a few old doorknobs from the ReStore and a handful of antique keys I picked up at the fun vintage and antique show shopping trip to one of my smaller jars.

Another small jar holds some more shells and a starfish, and a third holds some quail eggs nestled into a Dollar Tree Spanish moss “nest.” Do y’all remember my story about trying to blow my own quail eggs? Yuck! I still get the heebee jeebees thinking about it.

A couple of candles, my jars and the silver bucket stand on top of the burlap table runner that I originally created for my dining room table. It’s a little long for the sideboard, but I still love it here anyway.

Did I jump the gun or are you ready for winter to be over, too?

LOVE IT! My dining room sports a beach theme. I felt strange using plaid fabric in red and green for Christmas with all my silver and sea oriented things but now that all the Christmas things are away the shore is back to play! I love your side table and that mirror is beautiful!

It is beautiful! It has been nice the past couple of days, but I am still cold from the 18 degree temps from a couple of weeks ago, my first in Austin!
