Teach Me Tuesday: DIY Jewelry Tree

Posted in: Your Home, Your Way

When I came across this sweet gift Shannah of Hayley Daily received from a friend, I couldn’t wait to show it to you! Not only is this a great gift, but this concept could be used for so many different things. How cute would the tree be spray painted in pastel color and decorated with Easter eggs hung from its’ branches?

Shannah shows us how:

I thought I’d share a couple of great holiday gift ideas. A friend gave me a really unique jewelry tree:

Turns out – she made it herself!

I asked her to share her process, so I could share it with you. And I’m thinking this might be something I’ll make in the future, too!

Organic Jewelry Tree
  • Vase with a wide base
  • Filler – marbles, river rocks or items like these)
  • Manzanita branch (get yours here)
  • Acrylic water (like this)
Place branch inside vase. Add filler and adjust branch to preferred placement. Mix the acrylic water according to instructions. Carefully pour the mix in the center of the vase, making sure not to pour on the side of the vase. Set the vase aside where it won’t be disturbed, bracing the branch as needed to hold its position. The mix will take approximately 24-48 hours to set. (You’ll see bubbles as air escapes.)
To give as a gift, simply attach a tag explaining that the gift tree awaits the recipient’s baubles!
Isn’t this lovely?

Thanks for sharing, Shannah! That is so fun!

I love those branches! I used natural ones for my wedding centerpieces and hanged red votive cups from them. Now I wish I'd saved them!

So glad you all like it!! I would also add that it's best to purchase the sandblasted branches. The sandblasting process makes them stronger.

I love this idea!

Since you have to buy a minimum of two branches at that website, you can make one into a jewelry tree and one into a "holiday" tree!

Oh I love that. I need to do something with my necklaces so this is perfect. Think I'll make one for me and each of my daughters. Youngest has no jewelry, but what a great place for her hair things!
