Vintage Book Page Tassels

February 19, 2010

My poor, little Etsy shop has been sitting empty for quite some time now. I would love to be able to blame it on the pregnancy (I’m too tired! I’m too sick!), but it’s really been that I haven’t had any unique ideas of items to add to the shop. THAT I will blame on my pregnancy brain, y’all.

Anyway, when I had some time to relax and unwind after Blissdom, I came up with an idea that I thought was too fun to not further explore. That idea went through many reincarnations, but it eventually ended up as this:

And this:

And this:

Dream

These ‘Vintage Book Page Tassels’ are my new twist on an old idea. Each one is unique, made from vintage book pages and accessories. They can be displayed in exactly the same way you can use traditional tassels. I have one hanging on my antique sideboard right now and I just can’t quit staring at it.

I have quite a variety of the new tassels listed in my Etsy shop right now, made out of both vintage books and vintage hymnals. I’m kind of obsessed with them (I think my husband is scared of me and my craft room right now – he knows better than to set foot in there right now), so there are certainly more to come over the next few days.

I’m annoyingly proud of how they’ve turned out, so I just *had* to share with you guys. Thanks for letting me show off my new creations to you!

Does anyone have any great DIY projects lined up this weekend? I have a few projects I’d like to tackle now that the weather has turned nice. Can you say mirrored dresser? I’m sure that it will rain now that I’ve mentioned it.

Have a great weekend!

Those are adorable! Nicely done. Can't wait to finish my home office – I am turning one section into a craft/sewing station….you keep me wanting to use my hot glue!

They are all lovely but the "tasty" one made me think of a "baby" theme too if it were a baby spoon etc. (First grandchild due in July so I'm thinking "baby".)

Oh, I love these, Lindsay! What a unique and pretty idea!

I just posted a tutorial on my "lazified" version of your fabulous book wreath. I linked to you and included a photo of your wreath in my post. Hope that's OK!

Very cute. I'm working on deciding where to place a new mirror and perhaps putting some poly on the newly repainted coffee table.

I love these because they look great and they look like tassels I could make. I do not sew, but I can cut paper and put things together. Thanks for sharing your ideas; you are majorly creative.
