Shop Till You Drop

I am a shopper by nature.  Or maybe it’s nurture?  I fondly remember childhood weekends of traveling to Dallas to “shop till we drop,” as my mom would say.  My dad would sit on a bench and people watch and we’d drop bags of new goodies off for him to hold while we went on to the next store.  I grew up in a small town that had no shopping to speak of, so it was always exciting to go to Big D and pick up some new things.

These days, I don’t really “shop till I drop” anymore.  First of all, there is no way my son, Zack, would tolerate that without some serious bribery.  Second, there is no way my husband, Tom, would tolerate that without some serious bribery.  You see where I’m going here?

I’ve found myself turning to browsing stores online.  As much as I love being able to touch a product when I’m in a store, I really love being able to find a good deal and take my time in the decision making process without having to run all around town.  I no longer have to have this mental conversation:

“Gosh, that pillow would look so good on my bed.”

“Lindsay, you have to leave this store in 2 minutes to get to your appointment on time.  You don’t have time to buy it.  You’ll have to come back.”

“What if it’s not here when I come back?  I think I might die if I don’t have it.”

“Drama Queen much?”

I didn’t say it was pretty being inside my head.

If you enjoy online shopping as much as I do, I’d like to point out a some fun finds from a few of my blog sponsors:

Maureen at The Inglenook Decor has a fantastic sale going on right now.  Her prices are great to begin with, and now she has about 60 items marked down up to 30% off!  I have ordered from her and can definitely speak to the quality of her products and her great customer service.  She actually has several of my favorite things on sale right now, so I’m going to need to figure out which ones I’d like to add to our home.  You may visit her sale page here and her clearance page here.

Leslie at Having Fun With Paper has a new product that I think is to dye for (Thanks folks, I’ll be here all week. Don’t forget to tip your waitress).  She has created hand tattered, hand dyed wrinkled ribbon for use in home decor, gift wrap, and paper crafting.  The ribbon comes in some deliciously bright summer colors, and I can just see it wrapped around a vase of brightly colored flowers used as a centerpiece or a gift for a friend.  Check out her new product by visiting her Etsy store here.  Her prices are great – $4 for 3 yards of hand dyed ribbon and free shipping.

Rene at Bargain Hoot has a wonderful blog where she details how to save on everything from home decor to clothing to groceries.  She even has some tutorials and videos thrown into the mix.  Right now, Rene has a giveaway going on for a $50 gift certificate to EmersonMade, a company who specializes in hand dyed and hand stitched blooms and accessories.  The accessories she features are ADORABLE, so you need to go over there and enter her giveaway right this very minute.

Thank you so much for taking your time to visit these wonderful ladies!  I’m off to do some laundry and daydream about wonderful new things for my home.

I’m so much of a shopper that I even enjoy grocery shopping. It doesn’t hurt that the grocery trips involve elaborate list making. We all know how much fun lists are!

I have a feeling that I’ve created a monster in the youngest. She loves Target, Hobby Lobby, the mall, Sam’s- anywhere. Her teenage years are not going to be fun. Or cheap.

Thanks for sharing the links!

I draw the line at grocery shopping, but I do love to shop. Kid-free is the best way to shop. ;)
