Introducing You to Some Great Folks {Folk Magazine}

There are few things more exciting than seeing a beautiful shelter or lifestyle magazine among the piles of bills and sales flyers in my mail box.  When a new one arrives at my house, I wait for the kids to go to bed, and then I pour myself a glass of wine to sip as I pour over its pages.  It always makes for a relaxing and inspiring evening, which is just what we all need more often than our lives allow.

The newest magazine I have fallen for is Folk Magazine.

Although the country and primitive design aesthetic aren’t typically the most prominent one in my eclectic style mix, I’m a gal who loves the vintage feel that often comes with that lifestyle.  Making something out of nothing, peaceful country roads and chippy furniture have always appealed to me.  Perhaps I’m more Folk-ish than I realize.

Within it’s pages, Folk Magazine transports the reader to simpler times with a modern flair.  You will find gorgeous images of country fields, shopping excursions to some of the great independent artisan-style shops in the country, and drool-worthy recipes and tutorials.

We are all about the country, sweet tea, indie music, antiques, roadtrips, small towns, comfortable homes, artists, locally grown and locally made, one-of-a-kind art, open spaces, photography, patriotism, simple living, and the little things.   -Folk Magazine

Two of my sweet blogging friends contribute to Folk Magazine, and I couldn’t have been more excited to see their names on the glossy pages.  In the January/February 2012 issue (Issue III), my BEFF (Best Etsy Friend Forever) David Gobeli of BasilicusJones offers some delicious-looking recipes and wine pairings for a romantic meal.  He literally can do everything!

Meanwhile, my favorite finder of awesome “junk,” Donna Williams of Funky Junk Interiors, writes a column entitled “Junk Fix”.  In the most recent issue, she transforms a primitive cabinet into a unique statement piece with some paint and a computer rendered design.  Folk Magazine features the full tutorial, but Donna is sharing the final reveal with you today.

That is such a beautiful piece!  Again, even though I don’t consider myself having a primitive or country “eye,” I am absolutely in love with this cabinet.  I wish Donna would just load it up in a truck and drive it on down to Texas for me.

Folk is a breathtaking magazine, and I look forward to reading future issues.  You can subscribe by clicking here or you can pick it up if it is carried at a local shop in your area.

Thanks for the feature, Lindsay!

Reading FOLK to me resembles a storybook from the past. Very heartfelt reads. It’s not your average eye candy magazine… there’s additional substance to this one.

Nice review!
Donna
