It has been KILLING me to not reveal to you all of the big changes I have made in my powder bath. Yes, you know that I stenciled the wall and I made a “talking” rug. But, there’s more – so much more – to show you. The problem is that the room is so small and the light so “moody,” that it is impossible for me to capture its essence with my camera.
This week, I am renting a wider angle lens in hopes that I will be better able to photograph the room. Yes, you read that right. It has reached the point that I am renting lenses from a local camera shop to take pictures of rooms I have redecorated. It’s a sickness, folks!
In the meantime, I wanted to highlight a couple of key pieces that I scored at Marshalls and T.J.Maxx for the bathroom. Other than thrift and antique stores, they are my #1 shopping destinations for getting really stylish merchandise at a fraction of the cost of department and specialty stores.
When I was getting ready to start working on the bathroom, the nice people at Marshalls/T.J.Maxx offered to help me pick up a few accessories. They sent me a gift card and told me to go wild. Who wouldn’t want that chance?
I first went into Marshalls and found some gorgeous, soft Ralph Lauren hand towels in the exact same shade of red I wanted to add to the room. They were $6 each (retailed for $12), so I bought two. I also found a great oil-rubbed bronze toilet paper holder/storage unit.
My next stop was T.J.Maxx, and there I found the most perfect mirror EVAH. It is dark wood toned with oil rubbed bronze detailing. The huge mirror only cost $39.99 – such a deal!
Do you shop at Marshalls and/or T.J.Maxx when you are looking for new decor for your home? Each time I walk through the doors of either of those stores, I see brand new merchandise. I’ve been generally impressed with the range of styles offered in the home decor department, and I can always find something bright and fun.
If you aren’t familiar with Marshalls and T.J.Maxx, you need to hit up one of the stores pronto! They aren’t off-season or discount stores. Instead, they are off-price retailers where you can save 20-60% off of on-trend designer brands. Not only do they carry great home decor items, but I actually buy a lot of clothing and toys for my kiddos there, too. Shopping at Marshalls and T.J.Maxx is like a treasure hunt in that there’s always something new to find.

Ive spent a lot of time in TJMAXX lately – ive lived in an apartment for about a year and hadnt really decorated much because i wasnt sure if i was staying or not, and now that I know that I for sure am – ive grown tired of living in an impersonal space. I LOVE Marshall’s! I hit up all the Marshall’s within a 50 mile radius of my house prior to my wedding last summer, scrounging up vintage-y frames for table numbers and candlesticks and plates to make into DIY cake stands.

I am ALWAYS in my TJ Maxx, it’s pretty much my favorite store. I adore the housewares section almost as much as the shoes. I recently scored some Kate Spade for Lenox dishes, and I would totally pick up some more!

I love Marshall’s and T.J. Maxx….I was @ Marshalls today and charged my purchase…didn’t have to sign the receipt…I asked why and the clerk said “it is under $25.”" I don’t think that has ever happened before..I always go over $25. but get sooo much for my money.

I was just at TJMaxx this weekend looking for lamps for my newly remodeled living room. I found a set that I LOVE!!! $50 would save me a lot of money on the set I found.
I live in TJ’s, thank goodness they are right accross the road from my home, Marshalls is right around the corner! That’s why I’ll NEVER move from this house! My home is totally a TJ showcase, bought just about everything from the one accross the road or the one by my sisters place over 1500 miles away! They don’t call me the “TJ Addict” for nothing! Even the majority of the cookware and such have come from TJ’s and I was a professional chef with plenty of access to commercial stuff that still couldn’t compare to what I would find at TJ’s.
Oh, I would love this gift card. I’ve had my eye on a set of lamps for the bedroom, but haven’t had the money to spare. I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed.

I redid the basenent bedroom before we sold our house and almost everything came from Marshalls or TJ Max! I love their lamps, but my favorite purchase was an iron wall hanging that I used as a headboard.

Shopping at T J’s and Marshalls often to find a particular item or even better to browse until I find something great I didn’t know I wanted. I always score and walk out with a smile . Currently looking for drapery panels.
I LOVE TJ Maxx/Marshalls, to the point of it almost being a sickness. I shop them at least once a week, often more. My favorite sections lately: wall decor (in particular subway art) and table linens–they have the prettiest table runners, place mats, etc. May have to check in there today!

I dont know if many of you have a homegoods near you. Its actually the home section of tjmaxx. Its absolutely wonderful. A full store of amazing prices and decor. Theres many things Ive had an eye on. I certainly love the mirror furniture pieces and the abstract artwork.
