Dr. Urbinelli underwent a detailed and extensive joint surgical residency in general surgery – plastic & reconstructive surgery at Bellevue Hospital in New York City/New York University (NYU) Medical Center. This extremely demanding and pursued program aided in Dr. Urbinelli becoming the compassionate and accomplished surgeon he is now.
He perfected his skills at the reputable NYU IRPS, under the guidance of some of the greats in medical surgery. In the last year of residency, rounding up Dr. Urbinelli’s experience at the IRPS, he was chosen as the Executive Chief Resident. After graduation, he sought a demanding extra year of study in Pediatric and Craniofacial plastic surgery at Hospital Children’s Los Angeles (USC/CHLA)/the University of Southern California, under the guidance of Dr. Mark Urata.
Dr. Urbinelli was, in recent times, an Assistant Professor of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). At the practice, he also operated as the Associate Medical Director of the Cleft & Craniofacial Program at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital (DCH) at OHSU and as the Chief of Pediatric Plastic Surgery at DCH/OHSU.
In this capacity, Dr. Urbinelli lectured, coached, and guided numerous medical students, colleagues, residents, and other academics and personnel. He created new educational initiatives, surgical regimens and strengthened their collaborative efforts, propelling them to national prominence in cleft and craniofacial surgery.
Dr. Urbinelli is an American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) Diplomate and Board-Certified by the ABPS. Moreover, he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and a member of the Plastic Surgery division.
